10.10 miles
My human wanted to visit this area after seeing it on a YouTube video by another wild camper.
A 10 mile round-trip to Mossdale Scar just outside Grassington took us near to the entry point of an underground cave system around 6.5 miles long. In 1967 six cavers were trapped inside the caves by flood waters, tragically, despite a mammoth rescue attempt, all six were later found to have drowned.
Along the way we got to explore the site of an old lead mine and, although the weather was a bit grim on the way in, by the time my human had found a pitch site and had put the tent up we were bathed in warm sunshine.
The white stone on top of the cairn in the last two photographs was placed there by my human.
