Great Coum is another one of the Dales 30 Hewitts and at 687m above sea-level it is placed at #9. It is our 18th Dales 30 Hewitt!
It was a lovely warm day when we arrived, plenty of blue sky around. We had a nice long, steady walk along some tracks before we had to tackle Great Coum. This is another one that got very steep very quickly. It was hard going but very satisfying when we finally (almost) got to the summit.
Once at the top it was another long walk to the trig point on Crag Hill where we set up camp for the night. After playing in the sun for a while we had our tea and watched the sunset. After the sun had gone down it got cold very quickly and a heavy frost formed overnight.
The following day was a bit cooler due to the strong breeze but it was still a nice sunny day so after packing up we had a nice leisurely hike back to the car.
Oh, did I mention the sheep? Heh, heh, heh.
